School Nutrition
Healthy Food
The children of today are the future of tomorrow. Unfortunately, in today's world, we see more and more childeren suffering from being over-weight, obesity, allergies and behavioural problems. In most cases, this is caused by unhealthy eating. Recent studies have shown that nutritional education in schools has a positive effect on children's eating habits. Children love to learn where food comes from and how it is made into good tasting meals.
Nutritional Education
BeauNu has an educational programme that teach childeren, in a fun way, about healthy foods. Throughout the 4 lessons, different topics will be taught. Some examples are “ what are vegetables” and “where do fruit and vegetables grow”, “bad foods versus good foods” and the effect of “E-numbers and colourings in food”.
For schools, colleges and private boarding schools, BeauNu will discuss with the chef the menus so that less junk food will be served at schools, and healthier menus will lead to better concentration and less hyper-active children.
BeauNu also gives educational lesson on how to cook healthy and tasty food for children with allergies. Parent co-operation in this module is necessary.
Foreign Countries
Most schools in the USA and Great Britain have a school cafeteria where the students get served warm meals. This is why it is so important to focus on nutritional foods at schools. Many schools in London and L.A. already work with this method, where they hire a nutritionist to oversee whether their menu is nutritious enough for their students. BeauNu would like to also see this happening in the Netherlands and Belgium.
When you make children understand that “blue smurf ice cream” is unhealthy, you must know as a nutritionist what alternative ice-cream you can offer to the child, and this is one of Bo's strong points; she knows what kids like. That is why the childeren love her educational programmes as it is hands-on.
