FAQ - What is stress?
Stress
The pressure of modern life (high demands, deadlines, being a perfectionist) is stressful for many people. Life today, is one, where we can hardly imagine having no stress, or that we cannot even function with no stress to get to our goals and make our dreams come true.
Stress can sometimes be good too, as it can motivate us when we need to perform to the best of our ability, like in exams, work or sports. One person has a higher stress level and can cope better with stress than the next person. When one is under constant stress, it becomes a chronic stress which can lead to physical, mental and emotional problems such as:
- fatigue
- lethargy
- sleep problems
- concentration problems
- fluctuations in energy levels
- irritability, anxiety and panic attacks
- depression
- decreased libido
- weight gain or weight loss
- high or low blood pressure
- constipation and/or bloating
- headache (migraine)
As a result of chronic stress, the nutritional status in one’s body can become extremely depleted of certain nutrients.
